President's Report

Can you believe the year is coming to a close? 2018 seems to have disappeared in a blur, but then again I’ve heard “time flies when you’re having fun.” It has been my honor to serve as WMAC’s President these past 12 months. We have an amazing group of payroll professionals in our network, and it has been amazing seeing your accomplishments this year.

Our final Community Outreach event took place on Saturday, December 15th. We visited the Chestnut Grove Cemetery in Herndon for the annual Wreaths Across America event. This event is dear to our hearts at WMAC, and we are excited to have participated again.

We have great events lined up to kick off the new year, starting with the Winter Study Group starting on January 19th. The study group is a great way to prepare for the Spring CPP or FPC testing window.  The winter session is three full days of classes – January 19th, February 9th, and March 2nd. For those of you looking to recertify you can earn 18 RCHs!

Wishing you happy holidays and a joyous new year!

Abbey Moran, CPP

Community Outreach

2018 Wrap Up

Thank you to all who donated this year to support our annual charity - Children's National Medical Center.  We also greatly appreciate those who volunteered their time to join us at our Outreach events this year.  Thank you for coming together to support the WMAC in the community!

The WMAC was honored to participate in this year's Wreath's Across America event.  This is a very special way to honor our fallen soldiers.  We chose a new location this year, Chestnut Grove Cemetery, due to the crowds at Arlington National Cemetery.   We hope you can join us next year for this event.

2019 Outreach

We are happy to announce that we will be supporting Mobile Hope of Loudon.

Mobile Hope improves the lives of young people, 24 years of age or younger, who are who are precariously housed or homeless in Loudoun County. We create pathways for this fragile, overlooked, and often unacknowledged population to have access to housing solutions, daily essentials and life-changing support.

In addition to this, we will continue hosting outreach events throughout our community.  Please keep an eye out for event reminders.  We are proud to be able to continue making a difference in our community.

Chapter Sponsorship

Each year our vendors have come through to support the WMAC.  This year was no exception.  I would like to take this opportunity to thank the 2018 Sponsors:

rapid!Paycard - February Chapter Meeting
Nilson Music Company - March Express Chapter Meeting
Robert Half - April Chapter Meeting
Ultimate Software - June Chapter Meeting
USI - July Express Chapter Meeting
HireStrategy - August and September Chapter Meetings

Equifax - December Chapter Meeting

Thanks to the support we receive from these companies, we were able to keep our rates the same for 2018 and stay affordable for education.  If any of these supporters can be of assistance to you and your payroll process, please be sure to reach out to them.  They believe in our profession and continue to support it each year.

For 2019, we already have our first supporter for our February Chapter Meeting.  USI will not only be supporting the event - they are providing the speaker and their office space for us to meet in DC.  That's right, we are returning to DC for February 14, 2019.  Registration is OPEN and you don't want to miss it.  USI is bringing in an expert on the Affordable Care Act.  Many people have been asking how it is done but now we are getting questions on what do we do if we receive an IRS notice.  Well get your questions answered in February.  Sign up TODAY and show USI that we want more meetings in DC for our payroll professionals who aren't able to join us in Virginia.
