Meeting Location:   Webinar

Meeting Registration: 08:00 AM

Please join us for our first virtual chapter meeting!  While we will miss seeing the faces of our fellow members in person, we are thrilled to be able to provide continuing payroll knowledge to our members.

Join us on Thursday, June 11 for Mike Baer's discussion on the following topics.

Transforming Worker Pay: The Pay Experience

Description:  The term “pay experience” describes how employers are offering pay and payment options to employees today. Today, the pay experience revolutionizes the way employers and their workforces interact with and think about pay. For payroll teams, it could mean reducing the administrative hassle of common pain points like employee rewards and off-cycle disbursements. For employees, this could mean accessing earned funds before payday or helping employees to develop savings "muscle memory.” A pay experience helps employees to rethink the way they engage with pay and build good habits that will make a positive impact in the workplace and help them achieve financial stability. (Full disclosure--this description includes some elements of a recent APA webinar sponsored by DailyPay)

Participants will learn:

--How the pay experience has emerged as a critical part of an employer's overall employee experience, and why this is important.

--Four key facets to the pay experience:

   --on-demand pay

   --financial awareness/savings options

   --providing awards/rewards

   --facilitating off-cycle pay

--The future of worker pay

Responding to Cybercrime: After the Breach

Description: Whether a direct-deposit scam, a W-2 phishing scam, or a European data privacy breach involving payroll, how employers should respond to these incidents vary. Participants will learn about remediation processes, notification requirements, penalties, and best practices to recover from these events. (full disclosure: this mirrors a workshop presentation description that I am doing at this year's APA Congress!)

Participants will learn:

--the evolving types of breaches and how prevalent they are

--the role of an incident response plan

--responses to specific payroll-related breaches

   --The W-2 phishing scam

   --The direct deposit phishing scam

--The European data protection regime: GDPR
